Case Study 1 – 100kW Hamont Chip boiler – The Natural Building Centre

The Natural Building Centre has been based just outside Betws Y Coed for 18 years. The site consists of a number of buildings, including the original manor house. Ned Scharer was looking for an environmentally friendly heating system that could in the future utilise some of the woodland based around the site. They choose a CSTFire Hamont 100kW boiler which was installed in one of the outbuildings in a purpose built plant room in 2014. Originally installed by a local company Cartref Contracting, Ned now utilises Renove Biomass Care to service the boiler as required by RHI.

Case Study 2 –  8 x 500kW Hamont CSTFire Boilers – Jack Tighe, Scunthorpe

Jack Tighe in Scunthorpe are a engineering company specialising in painting large scale steel structures such as bridges. They are based in a large older industrial unit that has poor levels of insulation and is hard to heat. In order to increase throughput, Jack Tighe requested a cost effective heating system that would maintain a minimum of 15 degrees Centigrade year round. The building is split into 4 large assembly halls, each heated by a 1MW heating circuit provided using 2 x 500kW Hamont boilers produced by CSTFire. The project was awarded to Eco Energy Power Solutions of Stoke on Trent and was part of a larger renewable package including an array of solar panels fitted to the roof. The package benefits from RHI and FIT payments significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the factory compared to other fuel types.

Case Study 3 – 2 x Unical Airex 200kW Log Boilers – Walkers Nursery, Chester

Walkers Nursery in Chester had a year-round heating requirement for their bedding plant greenhouse and the retail outlet. They contacted the Greener Group based in chester to look into the feasibility of switching their current electric and gas heating to a renewable source benefiting from the Renewable Heating Incentive. With a good local supply of seasoned round wood, the Greener Group together with Renove recommended two cascaded Unical Log boilers providing a total output of 400kW. The Unical boilers provided a cost effective solution at a fraction of the installation cost of equivalent Wood Chip or Wood Pellet solutions.
